Join us for a hike in the woods of the Goose Cove Reservoir watershed, to a Dogtown cellar hole off the beaten path.
Our route takes us around the south end of the Goose Cove Reservoir, along a shortcut to Dogtown Road, then up the Adams Pines trail to Common Road, to a turnoff that leads past the "S" colonial cellar to the Essex County Greenbelt's Carter Reservation, and the north side of the Goose Cove Reservoir. Click HERE to see a map of the hiking route in Gaia GPS.
This is a moderate hike on mixed terrain with flat easy sections and rugged, boulder-strewn trails, with many points of interest along the way. Be prepared for a few wet spots. Total distance is about 3.1 miles; allow just over 2 hours.
Meeting Spot:
We will meet at the City of Gloucester parking area on Gee Ave. in Gloucester (located just past 41 Gee Ave.) See the location HERE in Google Maps.
Please arrive early (we recommend planning to arrive between 9:50 and 9:55 am in order to be ready for the group's 10 am departure). The hike will depart promptly at 10 am.
