Join us as we traverse a route that connects Essex County Greenbelt's Carter Reservation with Dogtown, visiting a historic homestead cellar hole midway between the two as well as several additional cellar holes in Dogtown which were cleared by CATS volunteers of extensive overgrowth in spring 2025.

The beginning and end of the route will travel on sections of the pathway around Goose Cove Reservoir, starting and finishing at the Gee Ave. entrance.

The route is 3.87 miles, with easy to moderate trail treadways, minor ups and downs, and the relatively uneven terrain of roots and rocks typical of this area.  You can view the route on a GaiaGPS map HERE.

Meeting spot:

We will meet at the City of Gloucester parking area on Gee Ave. in Gloucester (located just past 41 Gee Ave.)  See the location HERE in Google Maps.

Please arrive early (we recommend planning to arrive between 9:50 and 9:55 am in order to be ready for the group's 10 am departure).  The hike will depart promptly at 10 am.

Please note that dogs are not permitted on the Sunday Morning Hikes.  If you are interested in getting notified of Dog-Friendly hikes with the Cape Ann Sunday Hikes group, you can join their Google group list from The Cape Ann Sunday Hikes home page.
