Join us for a "Short Hike" at DeLamater Sanctuary in Rockport!
DeLamater Sanctuary includes 32 acres of town-owned conservation land in the south end of Rockport abutting the Waring Fields (which are also owned by the Town of Rockport). This hike runs from the kiosk and trailhead entrance on South St. next to Waring Field starting on a wide, wooded pathway, across a section of Rockport Golf Club property, and proceeding to a beautiful woodland trail loop on the DeLamater property.
The total distance of the hike is 2 miles, and the trail is easy to moderate with short, minor ups and downs throughout, and uneven terrain with roots and rocks underfoot. Note that there is a small section of the trail that can be wet (the ground may be soft, but there is no standing water at this time), and this section contains some scattered logs on the ground to navigate over (trekking poles are recommended if you use them).
Cape Ann Trail Stewards helps to maintain this property in partnership with the Rockport Rights of Way Committee, and CATS has recently completed a new trail map of this property, available for online download, and displayed at the trailhead kiosk on site.
