Join us for a hike in Greenbelt's Tompson Street Reservation, following a different route from past hikes.
We will head west from the Concord St. entrance to Sunset Mountain, which offers great views, and from there we will meander north along trails we haven't explored before, then do a U-turn south, heading alongside the eastern edge of Red Maple Swamp and over the long footbridge, back to our starting point.
Tompson Street Reservation features a changing mix of woodlands and wetlands, with boulders and rocky outcrops at every turn. The trails vary from moderate to difficult, with some steep sections. The hike is approximately 3.3 miles. Allow up to 2.5 hours.
See the route in GaiaGPS HERE.
Meeting Spot: We will meet at the Norcross Gateway, a roadside parking lot on Concord Street, adjacent to the westbound Concord St. exit from Route 128 (Exit 54) See the location HERE in Google Maps.
Please arrive early (we recommend planning to arrive between 9:50 and 9:55 am in order to be ready for the group's 10 am departure). The hike will depart promptly at 10 am.
Please note that dogs are not permitted on the Sunday Morning Hikes. If you are interested in getting notified of Dog-Friendly hikes with the Cape Ann Sunday Hikes group, you can join their Google group list from The Cape Ann Sunday Hikes home page.
