Sunday Morning Hike- Ravenswood: from Ledge Hill to Magnolia Swamp

Join us for a hike at the Trustees of Reservations Ravenswood Park, where we will explore several distinctive areas, from the rock-strewn ledges on the east, to the lush Magnolia Swamp on the west.  

This route offers a mix of terrain, taking us over wide carriage roads, then narrow winding trails deep in the woods, emerging on to the rugged Ledge Hill Trail with magnificent harbor views, and ending with a stroll along the boardwalk through Magnolia Swamp.  Along the way, we will see ferns and lush vegetation, tall pines, and distinctive glacial erratic boulders.

This is a moderate hike overall, with many ups and downs and plenty of roots and rocks underfoot.  Total distance is about 4 miles, and the estimated time is 2 hours.

Meeting Spot:  We will meet at the Ravenswood Park main entrance parking area, at 481 Western Ave. (Route 127) in Gloucester.

Please arrive early (we recommend planning to arrive between 9:50 and 9:55 am in order to be ready for the group's 10 am departure).  The hike will depart promptly at 10 am.
