Join us for a spring hike through the rugged woodlands of Greenbelt's Tompson Street Reservation in West Gloucester.
Our route will take us across Red Maple Swamp, along historic cart roads, past the site of the Second Parish Meeting House, and to the top of Eagle Rock, which stands at 170 feet, and offers scenic vistas to New Hampshire and Maine. See the map and route here.
The route is a variation of previous hikes. It is a mix of wide and narrow trails, wet areas and boardwalks, and the terrain overall is moderately challenging, especially approaching Eagle Rock. Total distance is about 2.8 miles. Though a relatively short hike, it can be slow going given the terrain. Allow two hours from the starting point.

Meeting Spot: Meet at the Norcross Gateway, a roadside parking lot on Concord Street, adjacent to the westbound Concord St. exit from Route 128 (Exit 54)
Please arrive early (we recommend planning to arrive between 9:50 and 9:55 am in order to be ready for the group's 10 am departure). The hike will depart promptly at 10 am.
