A mix of of terrain, with flat easy sections and rugged, boulder-strewn trails scaling the glacial moraine. A good workout but not "difficult" - just means slower going. Many points of interest along the way, including Baby Rock, Bear's Den, Ship Rock and the 1770 Bishop's Grave, not to mention Cedar Swamp and the Boardwalk. A link to the map can found here.
Registration is limited to 20 and will open one week prior to the hike.
Meeting Spot: We will meet at the main entrance and parking lot of the Manchester-Essex Wilderness Conservation Area on School St Manchester, 1/2 mile north of Route 128 Exit 50 (heading north on School St. towards Essex), on the left side of School St.
Please arrive early. The hike will depart promptly at 10 AM.
As always please bring water, proper footwear and poles if you use them. Bug spray/sunscreen is strongly advisable, too.
Please note that dogs are not permitted on the Sunday Morning Hikes. We have a Dog-Friendly Hikes group which is now repeating each Sunday Morning hike the following month. You can join the Dog-Friendly Hikes Google group from our home page to get announcements of each Dog-Friendly hike.
In the event of rain, the hike may be rescheduled, and an email notification will go out at 8 AM prior to the hike. The rain date will be the following non-holiday Sunday.
If you cannot make it, let us know as soon as possible. (If you can let us know at least 24 hours in advance, we can give your spot to someone on the wait list.) Please do not be a “no show”!
