**REGISTRATION FOR THIS EVENT OPENS SEPTEMBER 12TH**

Join us for a hike that will take us past six of Pigeon Cove’s legendary granite quarries, including Flat Ledge, Little Parker, Big Parker, Steel Derrick, Butman’s Pit and Carlson’s Quarry.  Lots of history here!  Granite from these quarries was shipped all over the U.S. for streets, monuments and buildings.

Along the way we will see remnants of the granite industry, explore the woods now grown up around them, and enjoy spectacular views out to sea as well.  Overall, it is an easy to moderate hike, just under 4 miles, with normal ups and downs.  See the map and route here.  (You may need to zoom in to see the route.)

We will start at the Granite Pier on Route 127/ Granite Street in Rockport.   Please park on the upper level of the pier, on the right side.

As always, please bring water, proper footwear, and snacks (and bug spray/sunscreen as needed).  Rain date will be scheduled for the following non-holiday Sunday.  An email will go out by Sunday morning at 8AM prior to the walk if it is cancelled due to weather.

Registration is limited to 20.  Please register early and if you cannot make it, let us know so we can add those on the wait list.
